The following is a poem written by Ugandan poet, Mukundane B. Albert, specifically for the 2011 Global Child Nutrition Forum in Nairobi, Kenya.

WHO WILL TAKE CHARGE OF SCHOOL FEEDING IN AFRICA?

By Mukundane. B. Albert.

Is it the incorporated organizations with expired registrations

The industrial farmers of degraded soils and climate change

The Enviromental activists of thy endangered land

The donor caring non-governmental units

Who will take charge of school feeding in Africa

Is it the prayer warriors at the altar

Sports personnel in games programmes

Is it the land owners at the expense of struggling tenants

The daily assemblies with no resolutions

Who will take charge of school feeding in Africa

Is it among the established discussion forums

The extension workers in their routine services

Food processors in their investments

The big honorables in poor rules of the game

Who will take charge of school feeding in Africa

Is it the journalists in the modern world with no equipment

The research centers of higher learning

The rural populace amidst ignorance

The mushrooming businesses of the global world

Who will take charge of school feeding in Africa

Is it the supermarkets at delivering contracts

The marginalized farmers of abandoned stock/produce

The fragmented blocks of investors

Decentralized units of agriculture and environment

Who will take charge of school feeding in Africa

Is it the visionary leaders with no agenda

The modern technologists in the field of innovation

The corrupt in viable projects

Research units which have turned into museums

Who will take charge of school feeding in Africa

Is it the advocates of change in collapsing schools

The climatic conditions determined by nature

The food stores affected by pests and weevils

The workers with no result orientations

Who will take charge of school feeding in Africa

Is it the hanging granaries with unmanageable systems

The suppliers and producers amidst food crisis

The professionals serving the hungry souls

The food reserve in poor infrastructure

Who will take charge of school feeding in Africa
