On April 1, 2010 GCNF signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Joint Aid Management (JAM) to launch a four-year school feeding project in Angola.  Funded by the USDA’s McGovern-Dole Food for Education grant, GCNF will serve as a subcontractor to help implement two major activities: (1) macro policy development and (2) PTA formation and school feeding seminars.  An estimated 200,000 students in the model province of Benguela will receive daily school meals consisting of corn soya blend (CSB).

In addition to reducing short-term hunger and improve caloric and nutritional intake so that children can better concentrate at school, the project aims to encourage the Government of Angola to assume program ownership so it can expand school feeding activities from the provincial to the national level. GCNF President Gene White and GCNF Board members Penny McConnell and Stan Garnett will be heavily involved in implementing the project’s two major activities.

Poderao Voces cooperar conosco neste assunto?
