June is National Dairy Month and GCNF is pleased to add the Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association to its list of generous supporters. Because of their outstanding sponsorship, Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association became a Builder of Children’s Dreams of GCNF’s A Possible Dream Gala held on March 7, 2011.
Headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association is one of 18 state and regional promotion organizations whose role is to build demand for milk and dairy products and enhance the image of the dairy industry on behalf of dairy farmers. Among its many promotion activities, the Association provides nutrition education programs and services to schools in the Mid-Atlantic region which includes Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington, DC.
The Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association recently awarded grants to 30 schools to support Fuel Up to Play 60, a national in-school health and wellness program that encourages children to eat nutrient-rich food and have at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day. The Association has also created over 20 games and puzzles to broaden children’s knowledge about the benefits of dairy, how dairy products are produced, what life on a dairy farm is like, and how to make nutritious food choices.
Speaking about the Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association’s support of GCNF, Janette Carpentier, Executive Vice President of Dairy Optimization & Marketing said, “Children are the future and they need to be nourished to grow, learn and be physically active. We, as industry leaders have the ability to drive the change and support the children of tomorrow. Dairy is one key component for nourishment and growth.”
