Jamaica and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) jointly sponsored a project in Jamaica to determine the effect of improving attendance and academic performance of school children through school breakfasts. Hunger and poverty rates in the Caribbean region show that sufficient food is available for the population of the country. However, Jamaica’s hunger rates stem from a lack of access to food. A school breakfast program provides children with access to healthy food.
