The Global Child Nutrition Foundation is grateful for the efforts of the volunteers whose goal is to Change Our World. Change Our World is an integral campaign for GCNF that aims to activate SNA members and the community at large and is fueled by the innovative fundraising strategies of volunteers. The Change Our World campaign helps to bring awareness to global hunger issues, while helping to support the Foundation’s efforts. Every nickel, dime and quarter helps us continue our efforts to assist developing countries to build or expand sustainable school feeding programs.
Jan Black, SNS Indiana School Nutrition Association then-President-Elect, used “Education, the Key to Child Nutrition Success” as her conference theme for 2009. In the year between the 2008 conference and last April’s 2009 conference, Black created decorative bottles with the Change Our World logo and distributed them with the encouragement to fill the bottle with spare change and Change Our World.
A rented coin counter was used to count the collections at the April 2009. As a representative of GCNF, Dr. Janey Thorton attended the conference and formally accepted Indiana’s donation. During the conference, a session entitled “Come and learn what YOU can do about Global Hunger” was held. Additionally, a director described the weekend back-pack program, Black talked about her work with a local food pantry, and Dr. Thorton spoke on behalf of GCNF. Based on her experience with volunteers, Black felt that her efforts would result in a sizable sum for the GCNF. She was right! Black’s creative fundraising activities helped to raise $3,529.82 for the GCNF.
Other Change Our World fundraising initiatives are going on all across the country and GCNF appreciates these efforts which ultimately create support of global school feeding programs. Please send your Change Our World experiences to GCNF. For more fundraising ideas, please click here .
